Now hearing the ring of your smartphone is something that happens all the time. With all social profiles such as Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp, as well as all the email accounts that you have set up on your iOS or Android device, there is no way to distinguish the corresponding alerts. For this reason, you may need to change your Facebook notification ringtone .

In the next tutorial, I will explain what you can do to change the sound of the alerts you receive on your iPhone, iPad, Android smartphone or tablet, Windows PC or Mac. Are you ready? Well, let’s start then.

How to change your Facebook notification ringtone

To change the sound of your Facebook notifications, you must first take into account that you may not always be able to do this . Also, not all operating systems can change Facebook ringtones on purpose. The same goes for Facebook Messenger when I write.

But by just saying that, I’m just confusing you. Instead, I invite you to check out the following in-depth analysis for more details.

Facebook and FB Messenger Android notifications

If you have a smartphone or tablet with the operating system All Android , you can easily change the ringtone for Facebook or Facebook Messenger. These steps apply to all Android versions including 9.0 Pie for example, and all types of launchers including EMUI. So it doesn’t matter if you have a Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi, LG, or another smartphone.

The first thing you need to do is select the notification tone you want to set. To find funny free ringtones, I recommend installing the Zedge app , which can be found in the Play Store.

After installation, go to the Ringtones category and find the one you like best. When you find it, tap the three dots ( top right) and select the “Download” option This will download the ringtone to your smartphone.

Now go to Android Settings and find the list of installed apps . Search for Facebook or Facebook Messenger and tap the app to access the configuration menu. Then click “Notifications” .

In this section, you should see the categories of notifications such as comments , tags , your account , posts, or pages that you manage. Click on the one you want to change. Then use the Sound option to change the FB notification via Zedge.

If you don’t see this option, you can always switch to the app, at least as far as Messenger is concerned Sign in to the app, tap your profile picture and select the Notifications & sounds option . Then select Notifications and Call for free calls . Alternatively, tap Manage Notifications and proceed as described in the previous section.

IOS notifications for Facebook and FB Messenger

Regarding changing Facebook notifications for iPhone or iPad , sorry to disappoint you, but you can’t. I do not want to “bypass” it. Why they soon say: The developers of WhatsApp do not allow you to change the pleasant ringtones of social networks that they associate with various functions, especially with the functions of FB Messenger.

However, this does not apply to those with a jailbroken iPhone . If you had one, you could vary the sound of Facebook messages and alerts in general using a tweak called BannerSound10 .

You may have a chance even if you have an older version of iOS . Try checking to see if the ” Facebook Post ” option appears in the Settings>Path to sounds' menu. If so, this option will allow you to at least change the sound of the posted content.

PC Facebook notifications

At least not yet there is no way to edit Facebook notifications coming to an app or browser on your computer. I do not recommend installing applications or extensions that promise to do this, as you will most likely face different types of threats.

The only thing you can do from a computer is select the Facebook notifications you can receive. If you are connected to the website, log in and go to the “Settings” section. After that click on Notifications. Then you can customize your notification settings according to different criteria and options. You can also turn on / off sounds when you receive a new notification or message.

Change the ringtone for a contact with Facebook Messenger

If you had Android, in the past, you could change the Facebook Messenger notification ringtone for each contact . This can be done very easily, without using third-party applications. Just enter your contact information (within the conversation) and select the Sounds option to customize it.

However, as of this writing, new updates have removed this option on any operating system. Therefore, you can no longer customize the ringtone for each contact, which can be done, for example, in WhatsApp.

How to set up a Facebook ringtone

You can only set up your own Facebook ringtone if you have Android . To continue, you must first find or transfer the audio that you want to put as a ringtone to your smartphone.

To do this, either use Zedge , as I said, or transfer your music or song to a specific folder on your smartphone. To do this, I recommend connecting your phone to your computer via a USB cable, for example, when uploading photos, and copying and pasting the audio recording that you want to set as a ringtone into the Notifications folder . It is located in internal memory . Try putting an M4A or MP3 audio file in it .

That being said, you can use the above methods to change your Facebook ringtone to one of your options. Just select it from the default list (it will appear, for example, as a system call).
