How To Save Contacts From Android To Computer


Are you going to move to a new device or just want to save contacts on your PC as a backup? We will help you do this. This article will show you how to save contacts from Android to your computer.

For this, we have prepared two ways at once. The first does not even involve the computer itself and the main operations are performed on the smartphone, in the second case, you will need to use your Google account.

We save contacts from Android to PC using standard tools

As mentioned above, the PC itself is not used here – at least for creating a kind of backup. However, it may be required in the future if you decide to run them on it. However, we will definitely come back to this. In the meantime, we suggest you do everything that is described in our instructions below:

If you’re not worried about using a third-party contact transfer app, you can also take full advantage of the Android Contacts app.

How to transfer Contacts from Android to PC

  • Open your Android mobile and go to the Contacts app.
  • Find the menu and select Manage Contacts> Import / Export Contacts> Export to Phone
  • Memory. In this way, your Android contacts will be saved in VCF form in Android phone memory.
  • Connect your device to your computer using a USB cable.
  • Find the folder containing your contacts and copy them to your computer.

It doesn’t end there, now you have to copy them to your PC. It is enough, as always, to connect your gadget to your computer and move the aforementioned file to your PC hard drive. At the beginning of this article, we mentioned possible problems with launching contacts on a PC – they cannot be read due to the UTF-8 encoding. Let’s go straight to solving this problem:

We save contacts through a Google account

Almost all Android users have their own Google account, so we will not talk about how to register it. We suggest that you go straight to the instructions:

As you can see, in both cases everything is extremely simple – you just need to make just a few mouse clicks or taps on the device screen to save contacts from Android to your computer. By the way, when using the latter method, if you select “CSV format for Outlook”, you will not need to change the encoding. So it will be ANSI by default, and therefore you will not have problems reading them on Windows.
