Through their own actions and through the Inspection Leads, manages, plans, coordinates, administers, and directs the activities of the Inspection group in assuring that our products and services are in conformance with all quality requirements. Performs, or has performed, those activities defined by the Quality Program as being Inspection functions.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and analyses data to determine the efficiency and effectiveness of the Inspection personnel.
  • Works with the Quality Manager to formulate, maintain, and coordinates quality objectives, in cooperation with other functions, to optimize product quality and reliability at the lowest cost.
  • Coordinates with outside parties, suppliers, customers, and regulatory agencies, as necessary, to assure compliance with applicable Emerson quality standards and requirements such as API, ASTM, ASME, NACE, ANSI, etc.
  • Implements a Continuous Improvement process within the Inspection group.
  • Coordinates the Calibration program for the facility.
  • Assures quality standards comply with division and departmental policies as well as applicable national, international, and safety codes.
  • Assures that the Inspection group operates in a manner conducive to providing a safe and healthy work environment for its employees.
  • Through the Inspection Leads, directs employees engaged in Inspection, and Test activities to assure that the quality aspects of materials, facilities, and products have been attained in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Plans, promotes, and organizes Inspector training activities to assure that personnel receive the training necessary for the proper performance of their tasks.
  • Assures that the Inspection group personnel are certified in accordance with the requirements of the division, department, and applicable customers.
  • Recommends product revisions, process changes, and inspection and test methodologies to assure quality standards are maintained.
  • Assists in the development and administration of the departmental operating & capital budgets.
  • Investigates and monitors customer complaints regarding quality and warranty issues as required.
  • Travel- domestic and international as required.
  • Manage directly or through subordinate Lead personnel all employees assigned.
  • Perform all Supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Emerson policies and applicable laws.
  • Current areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, Receiving Inspection, In-process Inspection (or audit), Final Inspection, and calibration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Engineering discipline
  • A minimum of seven years related experience and/or training, preferably in the oil and gas industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge, competency and experience in related field(s) including dimensional measurement.
  • Knowledge relating to manufacturing, inspection, and testing procedures and processes
  • Monitoring/assessing performance of themselves, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action
  • Must have the ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries, complaints, or employee situations. Ability to recognize and solve problems of a complex nature
  • Communicate effectively in English, in both written and verbal form, at all levels within the organization and to effectively present controversial or complex topics to upper management, subordinates, and groups of employees.
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Make independent decisions but understand when to escalate issues
