This position will have full responsibility for the domestic shipping and transportation functions. The Distribution Manager will manage and coordinate the oversite, budgeting, and flow of all domestic freight and related operational information within InSinkErator’s supply chain. This function will also be responsible for management of the Shipping Office and Inventory Control teams within the Distribution Center.

  • Lead and manage the domestic shipping and transportation operations to meet on-time and accurate delivery requirements ensuring the highest quality of services are provided to our internal and external customers.
  • Support the negotiation and execution of InSinkErator’s freight and brokerage buy within the corporate guidelines, and leverage programs in a manner that supports divisional financial goals and compliance with corporate logistics programs.
  • Monitor volume trends and variances such as holiday & customer order fluctuations to anticipate any impact to the operation and ensure that DC operations is informed and aligning the appropriate resources to effectively support.
  • Supervise the Execution of a daily wave plan that prioritizes the daily schedule to meet predetermined ship requirements while maintaining a level work load of activity across the shifts.
  • Manage an effective transportation information reporting system; ensure accuracy and timely preparation, processing, distribution, and retention of all necessary reports and records regarding transportation operations; and develop additional and/or enhanced reports to support changing needs.
  • Conduct distribution and network studies.
  • Manage all domestic freight expenses at or below budgeted levels. Develop and implement a freight forecasting and accrual model that provides accurate projections of the domestic freight spend.
  • Serve as the functional lead for all transportation related IT programs.
  • Manage freight claims and resolution process.
  • Implement and manage divisional freight optimization programs. This includes but isn’t limited to 100% on-boarding of all manufacturing freight within the SCO optimization program.
  • Manage Inventory Control and Cycle Count Team.
  • Manage and coordinate all DC activities related to ISE’s annual Physical Inventory.
  • Develop performance standards and processes for optimizing operations, customer satisfaction, and controlling costs
  • Build pipeline of new ideas (kaizen activities) related to cost efficiencies, service enhancements and improved inventory accuracy.
  • Coach and develop team members to successful results, including identifying training and development needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
    • B.S. degree in Business, and a minimum of five years of Logistics/Supply chain and management experience.
    • Knowledge/experience with transportation management, logistics systems best practices including experience developing and managing KPI reporting that will drive the desired results, freight buying, and aggressive logistics cost containment/cost reduction strategies is highly desired.
    • Knowledge of mainframe applications (Oracle) and business application (Microsoft Office Suite).
    • Experience using BI tools (Domo).
    • Strong communication and presentation skills

    Ability to interact with people across various business functions.
