Lady found dead in Port Harcourt apartment

A lady identified as Uchechi has been found dead by co-tenants in her apartment located at Woke Street off Cherubim Road, Mile 3 Diobu area of Rivers State.

The deceased, popularly known as ‘Oyibo’, was reportedly found dead after her male lover living with her allegedly ‘disappeared’ with their two-year-old daughter.

An advocacy group, Centre for Basic Rights Protection And Accountability Campaign, in a statement on Monday urged the Rivers State Police Command to launch an investigation into the circumstance surrounding the death of the female tenant.

A lawyer with the group, Festus Bonwin, said the sudden disappearance of the man who was living with Uchechi even before her co-tenants discovered her corpse raised serious suspicion as to the cause of her death.

Bonwin further called for the transfer of the case file from Nkpolu Police Divisional Headquarters to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for proper investigation, including an autopsy.

The legal practitioner, while expressing concern over the safety of the two-year-old child, enjoined residents to give the Police useful information that could lead to the arrest of the male lover.

“As an organization, we have visited the compound where the lady was discovered dead by her co-tenants and confirmed that the male lover who lived with her fled with their two-year-old daughter even before their neighbours discovered that ‘Oyibo’ is dead,” he said.
